There are a pile of old Phish shows
available for free download from the Toast442.org FTP server. I don't
have the time to index everything, so the
best way to find what you want is to log in and check out the wares.
See
the next section for information on getting hooked up.
Why would you want to use an FTP client? Well, there are several. Reasons, that is.Some general site guidelines
1. Your browser is somehow braindead, and doesn't understand the login/password part of URLs. This is rare, fortunately.
2. You need to download lots of files, and clicking on each one is exceptionally annoying. This happens a lot.
3. You keep getting messages about there being too many users; but you have a cool FTP client that allows you keep trying to log in until you succeed.
4. It is more than likely that there exists more philes on the ftp server than I've had time to create HTML indexes for.
Besides the instructions for setting up and running an FTP client there are just a few things you need to know to get attached.
Server Name: ftp.toast442.org
Login: phish
Password: phish
1. Make sure your auto-login retry time is set to at least 30 seconds. 60 seconds is even better and is what most site-ops recommend. The most common problem
2. Keep your idle time to a minimum. Downloading for extended periods is ok, but just sitting there taking up space is a definite no-no. On a lot of sites, this will get you banned quickly.
3. One login per IP. If you are behind a proxy server and this is a problem, email me at jasonk@toast442.org and we can probably work something out.
4. There are a maximum of 2 logins currently on my FTP server. Please keep this in mind and remember that other people want the files too.
By far, the most common reported problem is a mistaken error message that says the username or login or password is incorrect. If you have the username (login) set to phish and the password set to phish, this error message usually means that the maximum number of logins (2) has been reached. Try again in 60 seconds.
